We provide conservation planning and technical assistance to farmers, land users, local government officials and partnering agencies in an effort to encourage community participation in conserving and protecting natural resources.
We also work with local citizens and partnering agencies to identifu natural resource concerns (illegal trash dumps, eroded streambanks, etc.) and develop feasible solutions.
VA Ag Best Management Practice Program (BMP): Improving water quality through reduction of non-point source pollutants. Cost Share Rate: 75% of total estimated cost. Continuous Sign-up.
Emergency Conservation Program (ECP)
Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP:) Addresses natural resouce concerns on agricultural lands. Resources concerns include grazing, animal waste, forestry, wildlife and cropland. Provides cost share and incentive payments with a increase rate for historically underserved clients. Continuous Sign-up with designated ranking periods.
Indian Creek Watershed Action Group
Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP): Creating/enhancing high quality wildlife habitat. Cost Share Rate: 75% of total estimated cost. Continuous Sign-up with designated ranking periods.
Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP): Protecting & improving water quality while enhancing wildlife habitat. Provides cost share, incentive payments and rental payments. Continuous Sign-up.
Tree Day: The District sponsors an annual Tree Day each spring to make tree seedlings readily available to local landowners to promote restoration of marginal pasturaland.
Fish Wagon: The District hosts Fish Wagon of Arkansas periodically from spring to fall enabling local landowners to stock their ponds.
No Till Seeder: The District has a Tye 7-foot No-Till Seeder for rent to Lee County landowners. Our Seeder can be used to re-establish pasture, overseed old stands of cool season grasses and legumes, and establish native warm season grasses. It can also be used to plant cover crops and even overseed a lawn or ball field.
